Once that is done, you should be able to run the Realtek driver install without problem. After searching for a solution, I found that for the install to work, I had to first uninstall "High definition Audio device" in The Device Manager > Sound Video and Game controller.

I tried installing the latest drivers but the installation would always failed.Go to the Realtek site and download the W10 driver for HD Audio (link above). If you did not have the latest drivers installed then do the following. I had to go back to Device manager > Audio Input & Output, Uninstall the microphone, then reboot for it to also work.

After that my speakers did work, but the microphone still did not. After that Device manager > Audio Input & Output should Show the Realtek devices (Mic, Dig Out, Speakers). If you do not see Realtek in the manufacturer’s list go to Case 2 to first install the latest driver.> Uncheck Show Compatible hardware > Scroll Manufacturer list down to Realtek > Select Realtek HD Audio > Next > Confirm. If you already had the latest Realtek High Definition Audio Codec Drivers (what they are called on their site: ) then I suppose you may only need to do the following The device manager showed everything as working, but the audio devices shown were generic Microsoft ones (High definition Audio device ) and Not Realtek. No sound out of the speaker, no mic input.

My Laptop is an (old) Asus R1F that uses Realtek HD Audio.Īfter the upgrade, The Audio devices were not working. It took me a while to figure this one out, so I thought I would post my finding for whoever is having similar issues.
